Thiruvallur, February 14, 2025 – Jacob Matriculation School, Manavalanagar, was abuzz with excitement on February 13th, hosting the SMART Jacobites Expo 2025. SMART, an acronym for Science, Maths, Arts, Research, and Technology, perfectly encapsulated the diverse and innovative projects on display. This grand event was a testament to the vision of Hon. Chairman Adv. (Rtn) J.Y James Jayaraj, whose dedication and support made the expo possible.
The event commenced with Professor Samuel (Retd.), Department of Physics, Presidency College, inaugurating the expo, followed by a prayer by Principal Mrs. Joyce Maria. Honourable Chairman Adv. (Rtn) J.Y James Jayaraj, the driving force behind the school’s dynamic initiatives, was present to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Academic Director Mrs. Vidya Sankaran, who guided the coordinators, teachers, and students in preparing for the expo, also shared in the celebration. Following the inauguration, Principal Mrs. Joyce Maria and Chief Guest Professor Samuel took the time to visit each project, engaging with the students and listening attentively as they explained their work.


The school assembly area was transformed into a vibrant hub of learning, showcasing models ranging from a roadmap of the school and a functioning zebra crossing to a model of Chandrayaan and an integrated farm. Kindergarteners, dressed in creative costumes and adorned with real fruits, vegetables, flowers, sweets, and fancy items, presented unique bouquets to the Principal, Correspondent, and Chief Guest. Each tiny participant proudly explained the significance of their chosen item, demonstrating impressive confidence and knowledge.
Students from kindergarten to class 9 participated, demonstrating their creativity and understanding across subjects. Notable exhibits included a hydroelectric power generator, a maglev train, a dam, an AC generator, a hydraulic lift, and a demonstration of image formation based on angles of inclination. The Tamil department offered traditional food stalls and an enactment of Kadayellu Vallal, while the social science department displayed models of different landforms, forts and parliament. The computer science department showcased a range of working and non-working models exploring network topology and different types of networks, and the mathematics department similarly presented a variety of engaging models focusing on LCM, HCF, 2D and 3D shapes, and number games. The English department focused on adjectives, nouns, and poetic tools.
The expo proved a resounding success, drawing enthusiastic visitors from the school’s other branch and the wider parent community. The event highlighted the students’ ingenuity, the teachers’ dedication, and, most importantly, the visionary leadership of Correspondent Adv. (Rtn) J.Y James Jayaraj, whose commitment to providing a holistic learning environment made this extraordinary event possible.
